There were other awards given out that evening to other worthy recipient as well. Because there were so many worthy nominees for this award, The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority decided to give out "Honourable Mention Awards" for each of the two separate Environmental Awards given out that evening.
The Ward Smith Environmental Youth Award is presented as a token of appreciation for youth interest and involvement in the protection, improvement and/ or conservation of the local natural environment.

Deborah Ryder who has volunteered with the Ducks Unlimited Greenwing Prgram for over 10 years was presented with an Honourable Mention of the Dorothy Walford Memorial Award

Here Devon Landry recieves the Ward Smith Award from his teacher Sean Madigan who teaches at Centennial Public School. Sean, who is also a Heritage Gardener Team Leader of Outlanders Tree Nursery Team (Hammond St Nursery), nominated Devon for the award. Devon helped with the creation of some flower beds at the school this past spring. His enthusiasm lit a spark of enthusiasm in other students working on the project.

Here Hannah Bywater recieves the Honourable mention for the Ward Smith Award.This amazing young girl has been fundraising for a number of years to help sea turtles in Bali, Indonesia.
