Looking for a fun a way to gain volunteer hours for your high school diploma? Love to spend time outdoors? Students can learn about gardening and the environment with our volunteer gardening teams. Call the Heritage Gardener Coordinator now to join a team to garden all summer or to complete the requirements for your diploma...You never know you might have so much fun you will want to stay on a team!

Teams needed for bed U1, U2, and 14(see map of gardens page)
(There are two new teams formed in 2011-Thanks to team "Inspiration" for taking care of bed 46 and team "Best Buds" for taking care of bed #31!)
Also teams needed to tend trees in the tree nursery located at Hammond and First Avenue along Chippewa Creek and the Kinsmen Trail.
Waterfront Gardener: No gardening knowledge or experience required.
Tree Nursery Gardener: Teams look after weeding, mulching, and transplanting baby trees at either of two nurseries located along the Kinsmen Trail/ Bike path at the end of First Ave. and at Hammond St.
Thanks to a many many guest gardeners who helped with transplanting well over 200 trees and 500 shrubs to the Comminuty waterfront park. Thanks also to those who helped plant 300 new trees in the Hammond Nursery! These 300 trees will be transplanted in the spring of 2012 to the Community Waterfront Park Parking lots and will also help shade other areas of the city.
Team Leaders: Previous experience as a Heritage Gardener and leadership skills are required however previous garden or leaderhip experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
